Bas Kosters contemporary fashion exhibition: Klederdracht museum Amsterdam

Posted on: September 4, 2018 - Posted in: events

Bas Kosters will present his work in the exhibition “Contemporary fashion” at the Klederdrachtmuseum in Amsterdam.
It is an inspiring exhibition about traditional and handcrafted techniques from authentic Dutch costume. Bas Kosters will present an outfit inspired by classic fisherman’s dress, which appeared in his collection ‘My Paper Crown’.
One of the biggest fascinations of Bas Kosters as a designer is developing his own materials. He went on a trip to India to work with local craftsmen to create his own block print fabrics. The result of this special project can be seen in this exhibition. Bas designed several prints, which reflect a whole universe with flowers, animals, clouds and the sun. The outfit with traditional references and floral detailing shows all he materials created almost as a fabric portfolio. The pieces are finished with silver coins as traditional clothing often had ”Broekstukken” which are big coin like closures.
A small collection of items can be bought after the exhibition in the museum store.
